Some midsize SUVs can drive through Los Angeles, Redondo Beach, Long Beach, Hawthorne, or Inglewood and get positive attention. But now there’s another one that offers a premium feel and experience for a price that will make you smile as much as the way it drives. The model we are talking about is the all-new 2025 Mazda CX-70, a two-row midsize crossover SUV with amazing exterior design, lavish interiors, and a driving experience that adds up to a simply sensational package.
The 2025 Mazda CX-70 has seven different versions to choose from, but here, we will concentrate on the five that do not have a plug-in-hybrid powertrain. The five non-PHEV versions of the CX-70 start with the base-level Turbo Preferred trim that doesn’t look or feel entry-level at all and then go to the Turbo Premium, Turbo Premium Plus, Turbo S Premium, and the top-of-the-line Turbo S Premium Plus. All five have generous lists of standard features to suit a wide variety of budgets and potential buyers. The Turbo Preferred has an excellent feature set for what we should reluctantly call the base model, and the Turbo S Premium Plus is absolutely superb and is a real competitor to many luxury models that cost much more than the Mazda.
Los Angeles shoppers looking at the all-new 2025 Mazda CX-70 have two engine options, both of which have 48-Volt mild-hybrid technology. The standard engine for the Turbo Preferred, Turbo Premium, and Turbo Premium Plus models is a 3.3-liter inline-six turbo that delivers 280 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft. of torque. The performance is smooth, lively, and engaging, and the EPA-estimated fuel efficiency impresses at 24 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg combined. The other option is a 3.3-liter turbo-six that powers the Turbo S Premium and Turbo S Premium Plus models. However, this high-output version ups the power ante to a magnificent 340 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque. All the engine options for the CX-70 share an eight-speed automatic transmission and Mazda’s i-Activ all-wheel drive (AWD) system as standard. The EPA-estimated efficiency ratings for the high-output engine are 23 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg combined.
The cabin of the 2025 CX-70 is a stunning combination of comfort, space, quality, and style that delivers the kind of interior that was once only found in luxury vehicles with off-putting prices. Standard features include black leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a 12.3-inch Mazda Connect center infotainment screen with touch functionality for the wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto compatibility, a seven-inch TFT LCD display for the instrument panel, an eight-speaker sound system, wireless phone charging, Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry, push-button start, automatic climate control, and heated front seats with eight-way power adjustment for the driver. And that’s just the basic equipment.
Safety is a big priority for Mazda with all its models, and the CX-70 is no different in that regard. That’s why all trim levels get Mazda’s i-Activsense, which is a package of advanced safety features such as Smart Brake Support, Blind Spot Monitoring, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Driver Attention Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and a Rear View Monitor with static guidelines.
The 2025 Mazda CX-70 isn’t a model that tries to reinvent the wheel. But it does try to deliver an incredible overall package for anyone with the highest standards in mind for their next new midsize crossover SUV. If you want a new SUV that will never disappoint, speak to the South Bay Mazda team about the CX-70 at 20626 Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance, Los Angeles, California, or call us at 310-974-8177 for details of prices and availability.
